Information last updated: 11th March 2016
It is an exciting time at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre with so many people getting involved with a diverse range of our programs and services. In addition to this we are also getting ready for two national events that will see Australia’s best swimmers providing world-class performances.
Over the course of approximately 3 weeks we will be hosting the:
28th March 2016 – 4th April 2016 - Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Swimming Championships
7th April 2016 – 14th April 2016 - Hancock Prospecting Australian Open Swimming Championships (trials for the 2016 Rio Games)
It is a fantastic opportunity for the State to host such high level events, however we do understand that it may mean some changes to your normal routine with us. We have worked hard to ensure the impact is minimal and that you can continue to enjoy your time at the Centre.
The information below shows what impacts there will be to the normal operations of the Centre. Further to this there will be lap lane guides, group fitness timetables and car parking maps in the foyer area of the Centre. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to give us a call on 8198 0198 or speak to one of the SAALC team next time you are in.
From Saturday the 26th of March to Thursday the 14th of April, entrance into the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre will be from the Morphett Rd side only and all cars will exit out the Milham St side.
Members of SAALC will be given first priority to parks in the Multi-Deck car park dependent on availability of parks.
We have organised for the participants and the spectators of this event to park at Westfield however we expect to see the Multi-Deck parking site and roads around the Centre busier than normal. A parking plan will be enforced with the assistance of ACG Security staff who will help guide you to your car park.
The car parking at ground level closest to Morphett Rd will be closed off for use by the event organisers. Please proceed through to the Multi Deck car park for parking.
Please show your Membership Card to the ACG Security staff on entry to the multi-deck car park and if there is availability, Members will have priority.
An alternative parking option has been designated at Westfield for participants and spectators of the event.
We anticipate this to be a busy period so we ask all Members to plan their trip, and if at all possible use public transport, bike or walk to the venue. Please allow 15 minutes extra so as to get to classes on time.
Health Club & Group Fitness Classes
The Health Club will not be affected during these events however from the 25th of March until the 17th of April classes normally held in the Wellness Room or classes on the Concourse, such as Mature Movers will not be available. There will be an amended Group fitness and Aqua timetable for the 25th March to 17th April. Please also note the Easter Public holiday adjustments as well.
All classes in the Competition Pool or Water Polo Pool will be held in the Leisure Area. These changes will impact J3, J4, Deep Fish, Dolphin, Shark and Adult classes held in this area. These changes may also impact some Sardine, Salmon and Tuna classes. All new lane allocations will remain the same for the durations of the events. From Friday the 18th of March please speak to your teacher or Swim School Team member to find out any changes to your class location.
Every time students attend they will be able to send a good luck wish to their favourite swimming athlete and go in the draw to win tickets to the swimming finals and much more. All students will receive a green and gold cap to wear during their class during our Rio week. Join our teachers, show our colours bringing Rio to your swimming lesson and let’s all get behind our athletes! Download all this information and more specific for Swimming Lessons Members in the downloads panel to the right.
The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre has collaborated with both Swimming Australia and the Marion Outdoor Pool to work around the competition schedule to gain access to lane space for our Members. Please refer to our Lap Lane Availability guide for when there is availability. Our online Lap Lane Guide is updated no earlier than 4 days in advance.
From Saturday 26th March to Thursday 14th April Health & Wellness Members and YMCA Swimming Lessons Members can simply show your Membership card or Member band at the Marion Outdoor Pool, corner of Oaklands Road and Hendrie Street, Park Holme and you can access the pool for free.
The Crèche will be closed from 25th March to Sunday the 17th of April and reopen on Monday the 18th of April.
Health & Wellness Membership - Suspension
We understand these events may impact on your membership use. Because of this we would like to provide an additional suspension option from the 28th of March 2016 to the 14th of April 2016. During this period there are two direct debits effected.
